setting up 2 NIC’s

I have 2 NIC’s in my linux box. I have one set up as my internal Lan connected to my switch and the other connect as Static to the Swith going to the Default Gateway. FTP and telnet aren’t working. I get cannot connect or that 10061 number. How do I set this up with 2 NIC’s. Thanks
