Setting up a LAN using Satellite Internet

by jdmorgan35 . Updated 18 years, 9 months ago

Hello,

I am trying to tweak a LAN we have set up for us to use the internet in the middle east for personal use. We currently have the IDirect Satellite system with Constellation Networks Corporation. The system we are paying for right now is supposed to run around 1.5MBps. We have a Cisco router which is then hooked up, in series, to 5 switches to provide internet to everyone. The connection is VERY slow in the rooms. Transfer rates are around 3-5kbps. Is there any way to speed this up?? Such as changing our switch configuration(we have 5 24port netgear switches). I didn’t know if the switches might be completly saturated, just looking for something to get the internet running at full potential. We tried switching to 4MBps on the satellie and saw no change in speed in the rooms. Any help at all would be great as we are all novices trying to get this thing up and running!

My email is jdmorgan35@yahoo.com and thanks in advance for any help.
