Setting up a Web Server

I’m trying to setup a video streaming web server in my home. Using a VPN on each client to tunnel through to the server. I have 5 older PC’s and one newer machine ready for use. What type of OS would be best for the server? And where can I go to getall the info I need on setting everything I need up. Not only were should I start, but were should I finish?
