setting up an ideal UP TO DATE home lab for my ccna, please help.

I’ve scourged the internet for articles that list the ideal equipment to use to setup a ccna lab for self study but they are all kind of outdated. Can someone give me some recommendation as to what equipment i would need to buy nowdays. It’s almost 2008 and i don’t feel comfortable following a 2005-2006 article on what routers and switches to get for my lab. looking for something that will support the latest IOS version,etc, well you know better than I. Im willing to spend say $300 or so.
