We recently purchased 2 HP IP 2x1x16 KVMs in order to remotely administer some of our servers. The documentation that came with the units shows in great detail on how to rack the KVMs, and get them cabled to the servers. However, there is next to no information on how to configure these devices for network use. Worse, the units do not have LEDs on the RJ-45 ports, so I can’t tell if there is any activity to/from these ports when trying to attach them to the network.
I do have the IP Console Viewer, but when I try to assign an IP address, the device is never found (I’ve plugged a known-good cable into every port on the unit). Conversely, I received some convoluted HyperTerminal instructions from HP, but whenever I connect, I don’t get a configuration screen, just a group of jibberish characters.
If anyone can send me some pretty easy-to-follow instructions on getting these networked, or a link to a site that would serve the same purpose, I would be greatly appreciative.
