setting up server

I am a new graduate from university that study electronics engineering. I am not exposed much in networking. I have been appointed as the IT Officer for the Catholic Relief Service in Sierra Leone. With this position, I am to set up a network for the mission. I have done the trunking of cables and the server has been bought, can you please show me the steps that involve in setting up the server and the workstations?
