Hello again, I have another networking question regarding my shared laserjet printer connected to my server. I have three machines on a peer to peer network in addition to a server running server 2003. I have a HP laserjet 4 physically connected to the server on which I have setup a print server with that printer being shared on the network so all the other machines connected to the network can print to this printer through the server.
I have successfully done the setup where all the other machines can print to this printer, the only problem is that the connection between each machine and the printer is lost anytime I restart the computer. The printer still shows up ok in the printers and faxes directory, but the computer won’t print to it, I have to re-map to where the printer is located on the server and reconect it. The easiest thing to do here is to have the printer as a stand alone on the network with its own IP address, but it has a bad jet-direct card, so this was my next option. Does anyone knows why this is happening.
