SharePoint 3.0 Cannot login from server computer

Regardless of the credentials that you supply, the dialog box continues to reappear until you enter your credentials three times or you click Cancel. I cannot figure out why this is happening. I am able to login to all other computers with the same credentials.

It’s only effecting the server computer in which I setup sharepoint. I can logon to the SharePoint Central Administration but not the actual sharepoint site.

I’ve done all the obvious, changing the permissions and firewalls and internet settings, what else could there be?

please let me know if anyone has run into anything like this.
