Sharing USB Printer

by rbeilby . Updated 23 years, 10 months ago

A customer of mine has bought a HP PSC 950 multifunctional device without consulting me first. It cannot be used fully as the main accounting software he uses can only see LPT ports. windows 98 does not allow the capture of its own shared printer. Icalled HP about the JetDirect 310x print server, which connects to USB printers. The technician told that if the PSC 950 is not on the compatability list then it does not work with this print server. My question is will the printer function of this device be compatible with the print server to allow printing across the network. Alternatively is there a version of NPTWIN32 that permits sharing of USB printers? Is capturing of a computer’s own shared printer possible?
