sharing vialation when delete dos files

I resently ran a dos file in Windows 2000 pro (self-extracting compressed file for a laptop utilities). When I tried to delete it after trying to run it I got a “Cannot delete xxxxx: There has been a sharing vilation. The Source or Destination file may be in use.” any suggestions on how to get around this?
