Should Win98 hang accessing file server?

by dkilgo . Updated 25 years, 6 months ago

I have a small business network, configured (used) as the following:
1 ? Laptop used as a workstation
1 ? PC workstation
1 ? PC workstation/server
1 ? Linksys Ethernet Printer Server 10/100 3-port
All are networked together using 10/100 Integrated Ethernet PC Cards.

Every thing works fine until I try to access files over the network from the workstation/server. Once an attempt is made to open any file on the network, the workstation/server hangs (locks) and requires a hard reset of thesystem. The other 2 systems can also cause this same hanging condition on the workstation server when accessing network files. This was not a problem prior to adding the Linksys Prt/Srv.

What could be causing this to occur?
