Single Domain/Workgroup Model

by m*lenium . Updated 23 years, 5 months ago

I’m studying independently, and to do the labs need to setup a Classroom setup configured in a single domain/workgroup model:
Domain: nwtraders.msft
Instructor: workgroup/Corp-HQ name computer/London
IP: 192.168.0.200
DNS 192.168.0.200

Student: has w2k server installed as a stand-alone server in workgroup
Example:
Workgroup/North America:
user name:sqladmin1
computer name: vancouver
IP: 192.168.0.1

How would you suggest I configure this and how to I configure interactive logon??? I have forgotten how to work around the error message”: The local policy of this system does not permit you to logon interactively. Technet was not specific enough as to how to correct this. I could not get this to work by adding a user to logon in local security policy, maybe I setup the server wrong:

The student standalone i tried to configure has full computer name: vancouver.corp-hq.nwtraders.msft and Domain: corp-hq.nwtraders.msft

Instructors i tried to configure has full computer name: london.nwtraders.msft and Domain: nwtraders.msft

Summary, I guess I really need help setting up the instructor and student in the domain/workgroup model. I tried to remember how to configure it, but I’m not sure if, the above configuration is correct according to the setup notes I listed at the beginning of this question.

My present goal is to setup this classroom setup, correctly, so I can then install SQL server and Exchange server as begin studying the SQL server courses. Beginning with Intro to Transact-SQL.
