Site Hits

I know this sounds simple, but can anyone offer me advice in explaining site hits to a uneducated person? The art dept in my company has been spending way too much time surfing and the art director asked me to print of a report of activity. As youknow the report has a site hit listing. What would be a good way to explain this to her without going over her head?
