slow internet

running xp works fine with multitasking,1.6mz,356ram,80gig hd. dialup 56k
when going on to the internet as going from site to site system slows up to a crawl, still able to do multitasking with programs on hd. need to reboot to start back to normal then the cycle starts again.
have two other systems running win98 with a lot less ram, hd & cpu speed.
tried sys config changes still ng
