After purchasing a 5 client add on license for Small Business Server 2000 how are you able to reinstall the add on license in the event of a hard drive failure or you have to reload the OS for a domain name change?
Client Licensing
The server isdeployed with a hard-coded client capacity of five. Additional clients can be added through purchasing and deploying Client Add Packs, available in increments of five. Client Add Packs consist of a license and license media in the form of a 3.5-inchdisk. The license media cannot be copied. Once you use it, you cannot use it a second time. Client capacity can be incremented to a maximum of 50. Client use is defined as any connected workstation. This means that you need a client license for any computer or device that connects to the Small Business Server network.
The number of user accounts, however, is unlimited by licensing. In many small businesses, users commonly share a single computer. The Small Business Server client license requirement is focused on the number of client hardware computers connected to the Small Business Server network, not the number of users.
The Small Business Server 2000 CAL also authorizes you to access and use the services and functionality of any additional Microsoft Windows 2000 Servers that are part of the Small Business Server domain. Since Small Business Server 2000 does not support domain trusts, these additional servers must be member servers, or acting as replica domain controllers. It does not cover other Windows 2000 Servers not part of the Small Business Server 2000 domain.
