I am having trouble getting an SMC 8 port switch to work on my network at home. I had a 10 base-t 8 port hub connecting my PC’s, printers and linksys cable router. My PC’s have 3com Fast Etherlink 10/100 cards in them. My cabling is all wired straight through. I purchased the switch and thought it would be easy to switch over to it. The ports on the switch auto detect the speed. The ports are all cross over, the same as the hub I was using. I get link lights on all of the ports that my devices are connected too. I also get a 100mbps light on my Linksys Router.
The problem is that I am unable to see anything on the network when giong through the switch. I get no internet connectivity and am unable to ping any device on the network.
I spoke with SMC and they said the switch must be bad. They sent me out a new one but it is doing the same thing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
