Some JPEG Files not opening

I have a client, a photographer, downloaded his photo to the PC from his memory card in night (JPG Format sizr approx 20 to 24 MB), view all pictures and shut the computer. Second day morning what he see that some pictures are not able to viewd or opened in any softawres. Any one knows the remedies or softawres for repairing ??
