Someone changed my administrative password, Windows XP

Dears,
How can I gain administrative rights to my computer again. I run windows XP & someone changed my password. Now I can only work in safe mode to gain access to any of my programs & the internet.Do I have to reformat & start from scratch? Thanks for any help……
