sonicwall 2040 Enhanced OS

I’ve been told that I can remove the router from our Internet connection (T1) and plug the T1 line directly into the 2040 port. Does anyone have any input on this or has anyone done this before with a T1 Line?
Can it be done without a converter rj48 to rj45?
