Sound Blaster/modem problems

I have a computer with SCSI Drives for boot, a recently installed Soundblaster card, and a modem. When the soundblaster was first installed the computer would not boot. After some work, it now boots, but the modem will simply not work. The modem and soundblaster are both ISA. Any suggestions?
