soundcard problem

First off, let me say that im totally new to linux,Ive been running windows 95, 98, ect. for many years now, and ive never had a hardware problem i couldnt fix or figure out.
Ive been reading alot about linux, on the web, so i decide to go purchaseit, there were several choices to choose from, i ended up buying, SuSE linux 6.3
Anyways, installation went pretty smooth, i just cant get my sound card to work.
Its a creative soundblaster live soundcard.
My Graphic card is a creative 3d blastertnt2 ultra 32mb, and im not sure how to configure it , i tryed using sax but im not sure what to put when it wants the names of my chipset and memory and clock vendor names or something like that. I set the amount of memory to 32000 and dac to 300..cause it supports it.
I get some lines going up and down on my monitor but its pretty clear.
Back to the sound card..i know i need drivers for it and found some on the linux cd’s and loaded them, and it worked for awile.
