Hi – I am not a technical person so please help me explain my situation better (if not already done so) and also would appreciate some layman terms when explaining.
I have a Comcast Cable modem at home. When the technician connected, he used my laptop to connect and showed that the speed is above 400kbps for downloads. My friend came and connected the Netgear WGT624v3 wireless router to the comcast modem and got the internet connectivity working but now the speed is less than half even when connected via a wired connection.
Is this common? If not how should I diagonise this issue? I have reconnected back via the modem to check and it again shows high download speeds.
Is there a wireless router that I can plug to the comcast cable modem and expect the same speed as the modem when connected directly?
Appreciate you assistance.
– SP
