Spyware issues

Have an ACER 3000 laptop that my daughter loaded some spyware program that seems to have removed needed system files. Cannot connect to the wireless internet and cannot “see” DOS. Can get to the DOS prompts but when you type n commands you get no reply. Restore does not help…how to fix without wiping the system clean??
