SQL 6.5 with a database marked suspect

I am running 3g db in 6.5 last week we had problems with the log file (held separately)and increased it’s size. This morning the tech support team click on ‘truncate’ and now the db is marked as suspect. How can I rectify this, by coping over lastnights backup will it clear it? Help
