SQL SERVER 2000 MAIL SENDER

I working in a American Bank in Italy
and I am testing a new situation where SQL 2000 have to send
notification alert to the client.
I have HP OPEN MAIL as the mail server and Outlook as the mail client
It’s impossible to notificate file and attachment with this environment?
