SQL Server 2000 with SMS 2.0

Is it possible to install SMS 2.0 using SQL server 2000? I have looked everywhere for an answer and everything that I have read on Microsoft or anyone else’s site is to use SQL 7.0 or the latest. Reading that it sounds like 2000 should work, but during the install I have to select between 6.5 and 7.0. It won’t go any farther since version 8.0 (aka 2000) is installed. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!
