SQL Server 2005 migration

If I have a SQL Server 2000 box, and a duplicate backup server, what happens if I upgrade the primary server to SQL Server 2005 and the backup server is still SQL Server 2000? Will the 2005 server still be able to replicate to the 2000 server?
