SQL Server 2k RAID 10/ Veritas too slow

by neilpwaa . Updated 21 years, 2 months ago

When running weekly maintenance plan with optimization/integrity check/full backup – the process takes over 22 hours on main server(s) using Veritas/RAID 10, 2 node cluster configuration. The general performance is also very poor with regular timeouts.
If I transfer all databases to the local drive of the server (so no clustering) – it takes 3 hours for the entire maintenance plan to complete, which is fine.
Has anyone had similar problems? Does anyone know of any common causes and fixes? Our ‘consultants/ suppliers’ don’t seem to know and are costing us a fortune! We’ve already bought a replacement disk array, increased the memory and updated the Veritas Cluster Manager software but still no improvement.
Many thanks for any help you may have.
