Standby/Hibernate

No matter what i do, eg going to START ->TURN OFF COMPUTER -> either Standby or Hibernate, a box stating “Standby/Hibernate is prohibited now.” would come up. So there’s been no way I can put my computer in either of these 2 modes. Could someone help please? Thanks!
