So here’s the deal. I just built my roommates custom gaming rig. He was on a budget, but it was enough to get him a really nice set up for everything he wanted to do. Here are the specs [Detailed]:
Motherboard:
ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe
Processor:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Dual Core
RAM:
OCZ Gold XTC PC2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL5-5-5-12
Video Card:
ASUS GeForce 7600GS 400MHZ PCI-E 512MB 128BIT
Power Supply:
OCZ GameXStream 700W
Hard Drive:
Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB
Monitor:
20.1″ LG Flatron LCD Panel [Widescreen].
Now here’s the issue. All of his games, applications, Windows, everything, runs excellent. It’s an awsome computer. However, it will not play Starcraft correctly. It plays, but it lags, a TON. Starcraft does however, work flawlessly on the old 133MHz with 32MB of ram, and on my main desktop here, with dual 17″ LCD’s [not widescreen], seeing as how Starcraft has almost no video requirements. I swear Windows Solitaire requires more.
I’d like to know, is this a known issue with Starcraft? Are there any other gamers out there or techs who have come across this issue?
I can’t seem to find a solution, and I’m about to upgrade my dual monitors to 22″ LCD’s that ARE widescreen, and I’d really prefer to still be able to play Starcraft. Thanks!
