Steps on setting up RAID 0 on Win 2003?

by davidamcn . Updated 18 years, 3 months ago

Hi everyone,

I am a developer stuck in a role of putting together a new WIn 2003 box for development purposes. This is a expertise of which is know VERY little. The box is coming to us with the following specs:

Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad-Core Processor QX9650
Asus Striker II Formula nForce? 780i SLI Chipset
2 – WD Raptor WD1500ADFD 150GB 16M Cache Serial ATA-150, 10,000 RPM

I know is it more of a gaming setup but it will be used to run Win2003 and SQL server 2005 on a development platform with ASP.Net 2.0

I have been trying to find some information on how to install Windows 2003 on a RAID 0 setup. I havent been able to find much info and clear instructions on how to do so. The motherboard is RAID 0 compatible and is being sent to us with WinXP Pro installed as a RAID 0 setup. I want to clean install Win 2003 once we get it.

From what I have read I need to make some changes in BIOS and make a floppy with the NVidia Raid Drivers that come with the motherboard. I only have little pieces of info from various sites on how to do this.

Would someone be so kind to detail the steps involved on how to install the drivers and install steps? I have read a few horror stories about driver compatibility and installation issues on other sites, so any help or foresight is appreciated. Thank you for your time!
