Came across this Jan’12 article published in TechRepblic, sponsored by IBM – Showcasing how PowerVM on IBM p750 (p7+) outperforms x86 (HP Proliant DL580G7 with x7560 Xeon CPU);
If you look at the SpecINT benchmark of P7 & Xeon, P7 performance estimates are better than Xeon X7560 by around around 110%. This Article shows how IBM PowerVM (on p750 / P7) is better than Vmware (on DL580G7 / x7560) by around 115%.
What is ridiculous about this performance comparison is that P7 CPU is compared with an older Xeon CPU like X7560 and Not compare against E7-4870 CPU based DL580G7 ?
SpecINT of P7 and E7-4870 are in same range (1100+); While P7 SpecINT is better than X7560 by 110% — So, it is quite obvious that comparing any performance of P7 against an older processor like X7560 will deliver such results as proclaimed by the Sponder, which is IBM here.
I wonder when some IT vendors will stop assuming users of IT gears are fools.
