System has been running with a “rats nest” of switch/hub/server patches. Included is a patch from a D-Link DSH-16 hub feeding a D-Link DFE-855 100BASE-T/FX transceiver. The fiber runs to a mtching transceiver which feeds D-Link switch. The affected workstations plug to this switch.
BEHAVIOR: Workstations at far end perform acceptably until I remove the near patch from the DSH-16 hub port and plug it into my new Cisco 4006 10/100/1000 backbone switch. Now all far-end workstations are sluggishat best. All perform far below normal. This happened previously when I tried to patch the near-transceiver into one of the switches.
QUESTION: Is there anything that could be inherently faster in the DSH-16 vs. the Cisco 4006 (or any other switch, for that matter)??
