Symantec Advanced open file option

We are planning to purchase the AOFO for our file servers, but I don’t know if we need it for our MS SQL server, I heard that there is a specific agent for this. So if we buy the agent does that mean we don’t need the AOFO to backup the SQL server properly?
Please advise.
