Symantec Backup Exec with CPS

by amarshall . Updated 18 years, 6 months ago

Hello all,

I’m having a problem getting Symantec Backup Exec 11d Continuous Protection Server installed. I’m installing the product on Small Business Server 2003 Premium. The server on which I am installing Backup Exec is the only server in the organization, and so I am not using any remote agents. I purchased Symantec Backup Exec 11d for Windows Small Business Server Premium Edition with CPS.

I got Backup Exec installed no problem, but when I go to install the CPS, it asks for a second license key, which is not in the box. I thought that maybe I had just not received a key, and so called my reseller to see if I could get a new key. According to them, I don’t need a second key to get the product installed. The key for Backup Exec does not work with the CPS installer.

Could someone who has installed this before point me in the right direction? Do I need a second key to install CPS? Or is the CPS disk included in the box for some other purpose?
