system mail spooler

i am trying to install microsoft outlook during the installation it say setup can not continue the following programs are still running on your system “system mail spooler”
HOW DO I DELETE, STOP OR GET RID OF THE SYSTEM MAIL SPOOLER??????? PLEASE HELP
i am using a win 98 machine its not showing up, dont know where to look.
