Taking out a Heat Sink

by xiviergaming . Updated 18 years ago

My computer having stopped working a few weeks ago I’ve come to believe it is a problem with the Heat Sink the the paste for it.

So now I have the thermal paste to apply to it, but the HS…I am not sure what to do with it.

It is a liquid cooled HS from Cooler Master..it has 4 screws attaching it to the Mobo which will only screw a certain amount of the way out… then stop.

On the actual HS itself there are 10 screws that you need an allen wrench to get out.

I tried taking out these screws before but the liquid started leaking out so I quickly tightened them back up.

The question is…what part of the HS do I need to take off? If I have to take it off from the Mobo…how do I get those screws out. If its the allen screws…how do I keep the liquid from escaping….or just how do I do it all together.

Thank you.
