Task Manager Service won’t start after SP4

by dlogan-omega . Updated 22 years, 11 months ago

I just recently applied Windows 2000 SP4 to all my servers. After the patch was applied I could no longer start the Task Scheduler Service on my 2 Citrix servers. When attempting to start the service I get the following error: “Could not start the Task Scheduler Service on Local Computer. Error 2148073504: An internal error occurred.” I’ve searched everywhere I can think of to find any tips on resolving this issue. I found very little information. The technical bulletins I could locate only offered 2 resolution steps ? 1.) Make sure the service is using the Local System account and 2.) Make sure the file attributes on the Task Scheduler log file (SchedLgU.Txt) are correct. I?ve checked out both of these items. I?ve also searched through the listing of Post-SP4 hotfixes and there doesn?t seem to be anything that addresses this issue.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, have you been able to find a fix?
