Telnetting Cisco Remote Router running RIP

by tharsan.anthonipillai . Updated 17 years, 10 months ago

Hi,

I’m preparing for my CCNA examination and I am having a problem which I could not resolve with the CCNA study guide I have nor googleing it. So if anyone could help me resolve this problem I would be very grateful.

I have setup LAB using GNS3 running RIP across three routers (Toronto Montreal Vancouver). I have setup telnet on all three routers. I do not have DNS running. I will be able to find out the IP address of directly connected routers by entering #show cdp neighbors detail. I can then use the IP address to telnet to that router. Now to the remotely connected router from the router I am accessing using #show ip route gives me the network ID and not the IP address for the interfaces on the remote router. How would I be able to find the IP addresses of the interfaces on remote routers not directly connected, so I can telnet to them (using IP Address)? I appreciate the help.
