I have a user who is connecting to a terminal server running win2003 from an XP workstation. When he tries to run outlook on the server, an alert pops up stating “cannot start microsoft outlook”. He can open Word and Excel, but it comes up with the initial splash screen, even though he’s been in it before. As well, he cannot change his default printer, no error message, the default just will not change. I’m not having these problems with any other users.
I’ve tried:
1) Checked his permissions against other peoples who are working.
2) I made him an admin.
3) Checked all the permissions on the way to his user profile on the domain controller. Nothing special applies to him.
4) Deleted his user profile on the terminal server to let it rebuild.
5) Replaced the default user profile on the terminal server with one from database server, which is also running win2003, the repeated #4.
an additional thing I’ve noticed is an Event ID: 1504 error in the event viewer on the terminal server for him, but pursuing that error hasn’t lead to much.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
