TEST PAGE FAILED TO PRINT

HI,
I am getting a problem while using windows xp prof. in a workgroup network, i have installed network printer(installed & shared in windows 98 se.) in xp prof. with no error but when i print for test page it says test page failed to print.
my windows xp prof. using the IP ADD. of the same range.
same protocol (TCP/IP)installed on both systems.
both systems are on the same workgroup.
I can ping the win 98 system both by IP and name, also i can access win 98 shared folders.
I have also tried to restore the system to early state but it was all in vain.
also netlogon service is not starting, when I try to start it, but it failed.
