The Day Ransomware Took Down My Client’s System – And What I Learned

by kevinasutton7 . Updated 9 months, 2 weeks ago

A few months ago, one of my clients was hit with a ransomware attack. Overnight, their entire file system was locked, and employees couldn’t access even the most basic documents. What shocked me most wasn’t the attack itself but how unprepared they were. No backups. No proper endpoint security. Just panic.

I spent two sleepless nights helping them recover and secure their systems. The hardest part was telling the business owner that some files were gone forever. That conversation still sticks with me.

Since then, I’ve made it a habit to push every client to invest in layered security and regular backups. It’s not a matter of if but when.

Has anyone else here faced something similar? How did you handle it, and what changes did you make afterward to prevent it from happening again?
