[Update: Member oldbag reports that CN Tower in Toronto is still the tallest free standing structure at 1,815 feet (2). Apparently the snippy “building people” don’t count CN Tower because it doesn’t have floors from the ground up (“just” a pod of floors near the top). CN Tower is impressive engineering and deserves due credit! Go Canada!]
The tallest building the the world is now a tower in Dubai that is still under construction (1). It is currently 1,680 feet tall. When completed, it will be “above 2,275 feet”, about 600 feet TALLER than it already is.
This means that if you were standing on the roof of the tallest building in the U.S., The Sears Tower in Chicago, you would look up 825 FEET to see the top of the tower in Dubai.
Holy crap! That is one friggin’ tall building. See the pictures.
P.S. The Sears Tower! What a runt! :^0
