The Local Security Authority Cannot Be Contacted – File Sharing

by dhebebrand . Updated 18 years, 4 months ago

Ok, so if anyone can help with this that would be great.

A few basic things…

-Two Domains (Both 2003)
-All clients XP
-A Two Way Trust is setup
-Everything can ping everything (Names, IP Addresses, FQDN, etc.)
-The error described below only affects the clients, the server boxes work fine

I am trying to share a folder via one of the XP-SP2 clients to a user that is in the other domain. When I select that user from “Locations” and choose “Find Now” I receive “The Local Security Authority Cannot Be Contacted”. I can’t find anything in the event logs.

Any ideas? Its probably simple, but I can’t figure it out.

Thanks

Update – I have added one Windows 2000 & one Windows 98 client on the network and they don’t have any problems. So it looks like its just the XP clients.
