Tool to know if a network drop is hot

Is there any tool (voltage reader, LED activator) out there or something I can build , so that I can walk up to a wall jack and test and see if the drop is hot. It’s frustrating having to go back to my idf’s to see if the drop is hot. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
