Top Ten reasons I’m sick and tired of Top Ten lists

While perhaps David Letterman can make me laugh with his top-ten lists, is there some new industry that has to apply some arbitrary ranking to everything, and make it be exactly ten items or less?

Typically, the annoyance cycle starts where a somewhat misinformed author does some half-baked research on something he knows little about, makes some wild guesses about what others may have for requirements, then out pops a top ten list, like the excretion you find in a horse stall.

Even better are the lists that are blatantly biased, like the top-ten cars in the world by a writer based in Detroit seems to somehow make the Chevy Cavalier the best compact car in the world…..
