toshiba a135-s2276 will turn on but nothing comes up on the screen

i cant figure out what has happened the laptop worked fine and one day my wife and i where taking turns playing games on the thing and we needed to restart the computer after we had just went through some updates and we restarted it and nothing has came on the screen since it turns on and fires right up but nothing on the screen. what should i do does any body have any ideas of what might of happened?
