Toshiba S205-5067 and external monitor

Attached a 19″ Viewsonic widescreen monitor to my mini-toshiba for desktop use. Best resolution I can get on the monitor is 1064X768 which while it firs the entire desktop in the window (finally)distorts everyhting. Toshiba says Intel 945GM chip does not support better resolution, Intel web site says it does, Viewsonic says it’s not a monitor problem. Downloaded Viewsonic unsigned May 2007 driver, but still cannot get 1440X900. Intel Graphics window says two monitors can be supported, how do I get it to recognize the second montior. It is connected now thru a dynadock docking station….
