Tracking Non-Networked Peripherals in a Large Organization

by larry.sheehan . Updated 18 years, 1 month ago

I have been asked to find a way to track peripheral equipment such as monitors and personal printers, connected to networked PCs, for inventory control. I do not want to do a manual inventory!

Just brainstorming. These peripherals communicate in some way with their host network PC. I am thinking some other large organization must have grappled with this problem other than by doing manual inventories.
I am hoping for an automated solution of some kind. Is there, for example, any kind of software that can be downloaded to a PC to report back all the peripherals attached to it?

Any thoughts/feedback at all would be greatly appreciated
