Trouble sharing local printer Win2000

I have a HP612C attached to an NT4 workstation. It is shared with other lan users in this office using NT4. Problem is that the Windows2000 machine will not use the driver from the NT4 box (not compatible).
Attempting to ad network printer gets error HPFecp20.sys can’t be found in WINNT\SYSTEM32. WIN2000 machine will add the 612C as a local printer fine but not the share? What’s up with that?
